Building a High-Performance Digital Campaign for Hamilton Ward 10

A community-focused campaign platform designed to inform voters, build trust, and turn online engagement into local action.

Building a High-Performance Digital Campaign for Hamilton Ward 10

Project Overview

Tanjoban Nijjar is a community leader and candidate for Hamilton Ward 10 City Councillor. Her campaign needed a central digital platform where residents could learn about her background, understand her priorities, and find practical ways to support the campaign. The website needed to communicate credibility without feeling distant or overly formal. Municipal voters are looking for clear information, local relevance, and confidence that a candidate will remain accessible after election day. The experience therefore had to balance strong campaign messaging with a welcoming, community-first tone. The project’s goals were to present Tanjoban’s story and policy platform clearly, showcase her involvement across Ward 10, and make important campaign actions easy to complete on any device. These actions included volunteering, requesting a lawn sign, contacting the campaign, and making a donation. Performance was also a core requirement. Campaign traffic often arrives through social media and mobile devices, where slow connections and short attention spans can undermine otherwise strong messaging. The site needed to load quickly, remain visually engaging, and support campaign growth without becoming difficult to maintain. The final platform brings campaign information, community photography, policy content, endorsements, and supporter actions into one consistent experience. It gives residents a clear path from first impression to meaningful participation while providing the campaign team with a dependable foundation for ongoing outreach.

The Challenge

The campaign had to communicate a large amount of information without overwhelming visitors. Residents needed to move quickly between Tanjoban’s biography, campaign priorities, policy commitments, community involvement, and opportunities to participate. The experience also depended heavily on photography. Large portraits, event images, and community galleries helped establish trust and local credibility, but the original image files were too heavy for a mobile-first campaign site. Serving those files at full size would have increased loading times and created a poor experience for visitors on slower connections. The technical structure needed to support multiple conversion paths, including volunteer registrations, lawn sign requests, contact messages, and donations. Each path had to feel like part of the same campaign rather than a collection of disconnected forms and pages. Search visibility and link sharing were additional concerns. Every major page needed accurate titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, and social sharing metadata so residents could find and share campaign information with confidence.

Our Solution

Our Solution: We designed and developed a responsive campaign platform organized around the questions voters are most likely to ask: who Tanjoban is, what she stands for, how she is involved in the community, and how residents can help. Dedicated pages for the campaign platform, local issues, community events, volunteering, lawn signs, contact, and donations keep the content focused while maintaining a consistent experience. The visual system pairs strong campaign typography with community photography and clear calls to action. Motion and interactive details add energy without distracting from the message, while light and dark presentation options preserve readability across different viewing preferences. We created direct supporter journeys for volunteering, requesting a lawn sign, contacting the campaign, and donating. Stripe supports secure campaign contributions, while the campaign’s email workflow helps route submissions and supporter interest to the team. To improve mobile performance, we built a responsive image pipeline that generates AVIF and WebP assets at multiple sizes. Large campaign images are now delivered according to the visitor’s screen size, below-the-fold media is loaded only when needed, and explicit dimensions prevent layout shifts as images appear. We also reduced the amount of code required for the first screen by splitting below-the-fold sections into deferred bundles. Unused interface libraries were removed, fonts were self-hosted, production assets were compressed, and nonessential scripts were delayed. These changes reduced the initial JavaScript payload while preserving the site’s visual character and interactions. Finally, each public page received unique search metadata, canonical URLs, social sharing tags, and structured campaign information. The result is a website that works as both a persuasive public presence and a practical organizing tool.
