Zubair Hussain is a community advocate and candidate for Durham District School Board Trustee in Ajax. His campaign focuses on student success, accountable leadership, safe and inclusive schools, and stronger representation for local families. The campaign needed a professional digital presence that could introduce Zubair to voters, clearly communicate his platform, and document his record of community service. The website also needed to make it easy for supporters to volunteer, request lawn signs, read campaign news, and learn more about his experience. EightLabs designed and developed a responsive campaign platform organized around the questions voters are most likely to ask: who the candidate is, what he stands for, what he has contributed to the community, and how residents can get involved. The final website combines a distinctive campaign identity with practical campaign operations. Public-facing content is supported by durable form handling, campaign notifications, and structured submission tracking so the team can respond to supporters efficiently.
The campaign had a substantial collection of priorities, endorsements, photographs, community initiatives, and biographical information, but it needed a clear structure that would not overwhelm visitors. Important information had to remain easy to scan on both desktop and mobile devices. The website also needed to serve two different purposes. It had to establish the candidate’s credibility through verified community work while guiding supporters toward meaningful actions such as volunteering and requesting a lawn sign. Campaign form submissions required dependable storage and a workflow that campaign staff could use without technical knowledge. Relying only on email or spreadsheets would have introduced a risk of lost submissions, duplicate entries, and inconsistent records. The visual direction presented an additional challenge. The campaign’s bold red, black, white, and yellow identity needed to feel energetic and recognizable without allowing the bright yellow accent to overpower the content or reduce readability.
EightLabs created a responsive, multi-page React website with a bold editorial design inspired by campaign signage and community organizing materials. Strong typography, high-contrast borders, structured content cards, and carefully controlled yellow accents give the website a recognizable identity while keeping the information accessible. The homepage was organized around the campaign’s most important narrative: platform priorities, endorsements, community record, and lawn-sign requests. Supporting pages provide more detail about Zubair, campaign news, volunteer opportunities, and ways for residents to participate. A visual record section was developed to present community involvement through verified photographs and captions. A masonry-style gallery accommodates images and captions of different heights without leaving distracting gaps, while interview cards connect visitors directly to original social media posts. The volunteer and lawn-sign forms use validated inputs and a PostgreSQL-first submission process. Every valid submission is stored in the database before secondary integrations run, protecting campaign data if an external service is temporarily unavailable. Google Sheets mirrors make submissions accessible to campaign staff, while Resend notifications alert the team when new requests arrive. Anti-spam controls, duplicate protection, error handling, and non-blocking integrations improve reliability without creating unnecessary friction for supporters. The site was also optimized for campaign discovery and sharing through page-specific metadata, social previews, responsive navigation, accessible interactions, and compatibility across mobile and desktop screen sizes.
